Demon's Souls remake is also heading to PC, gameplay shown off [UPDATE]

Sony had a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming remake of Demon"s Souls to show off during its PlayStation 5 event today, and during it, a surprise announcement was waiting for PC fans, with the trailer"s end card revealing that the title would also be hitting the PC platform. The gameplay trailer has since been taken down by Sony, which saw our hero face the new and improved demon Vanguard. We will update this page with an official video once Sony gets it back up.

Remaking this 10-year old classic is Bluepoint Games and SIE JAPAN, who are aiming to make a nostalgic but new experience. According to the developers, a returning fan will feel like they are "transported back to the Boletaria they love," where the "original characters, encounters and battles are brought to life in greater fidelity, making the story even richer and darker."

"Even as we went back to the drawing board to build upon the original art, sound, music, and feel, our goal was always to remain true to the vision of the original classic – its story, gameplay and level design," said SIE Worldwide Studios creative director Gavin Moore, describing the development direction. "With this in mind, we fine-tuned the title to ensure the game remains fresh and appeals to new users accustomed to modern controls and experiences."

The Demon"s Souls remake will be coming to PlayStation 5 as a launch title on November 12 with a $69.99 price tag. It"s unclear if the PC version will also launch on the same day at the same price point, but at least PC fans will be happy to know that the FromSoftware title is finally coming to their platform after all these years.

UPDATE: Although the gameplay trailer clearly showed "Also available on PC" on its end card, as seen above, Sony has now put out a statement (via Kotaku) saying that this was a mistake on its part. According to the company"s new statement, Demon"s Souls will only be available on the PlayStation 5.
