Despite rumors, Apple's chip boss Johny Srouji has no plans to leave the company

While it was previously reported that Apple was on the verge of losing its Silicon chief, Johny Srouji, a new memo released by Bloomberg puts all speculation to rest. It confirms that Srouji will remain in his position as the leader of Apple’s chip division.

In a memo to his division, Johny Srouji wrote, “I know you’ve been reading all kind of rumors and speculations about my future at Apple, and I feel that you need to hear from me directly. I am proud of the amazing Technologies we all build across Displays, Cameras, Sensors, Silicon, Batteries, and a very wide set of technologies, across all of Apple Products. Together we enable the best products in the world. I love my team, and I love my job at Apple, and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.”

Bloomberg previously reported that Johny Srouji is seriously considering leaving Apple and may even join another tech company. According to the report, Srouji has also informed Apple CEO Tim Cook of his intentions to depart from the Cupertino-based tech giant.

Apple has faced an exodus of top talent and executives over the past few years. OpenAI and Meta are actively recruiting Apple’s AI engineers and designers amid delays in the rollout of an upgraded Siri.

Last week, Alan Dye, the head of Apple’s user interface design team, announced that he was leaving the company to join Meta. Moreover, previous reports allege that Apple employees have been independently reaching out to OpenAI to inquire about potential recruitment opportunities at the AI giant.

Apple AI chief John Giannandrea, environmental chief Lisa Jackson, and General Counsel Katherine Adams are the latest executives expected to retire soon.

Things might also get tougher for Apple in 2026 amid the looming retirement of CEO Tim Cook. While recent reports suggest that Cook will remain at Apple through next year, John Ternus, the senior vice president of hardware engineering, is the most likely candidate to replace him.
