Meta has announced new features for Facebook creators and their heavily invested followers. Content creators on Facebook can set up fan challenges and share fun prompts for their followers to create and share content alongside.
If a content creator you follow on Facebook starts a challenge, it will show up in your feed. You can click the challenge hashtag on the creator"s post, reel, or another fan"s entry to enter the challenge and create your own content. It"s a community-driven feature, and content submissions that receive the most reactions will be featured on the fan challenge leaderboard.
The feature has been in development and testing for a while. Users can visit a challenge"s homepage to view the entries submitted by other users and interact with them. Meta notes that users have submitted over 1.5 million entries in the last three months, which received comments and reactions from more than 10 million people.
For content creators, the feature can help with their brands" reach and drive engagement. When creating a new challenge, creators can customize the time from a "quick 7-day burst to a multi-month run."
A challenge could be a simple "sharing your morning routine" or a prompt for people to talk about their experiences, major events, or milestones. Creators can recognize top posts at the end of a challenge and show appreciation.
The social media giant has also upgraded the top fan badge feature. It has been available since 2019 to musicians, entertainers, athletes, and other creators with 100 followers or more. Meta has updated the feature, and big creators with more than one million followers can customize their top fan badge.
Such creators can add a nickname for their superfans that appears as a branded badge next to the comments of users. More than 500 million users globally have already accepted a custom or regular top fan badge on Facebook.
