Faster Windows 10 builds incoming; new 'ludicrous speed' ring might show up as well

Hold on to your chairs Windows Insiders, as the team behind Windows 10 will be taking actions to make sure more people have access to faster builds in the near future, maybe even via a “ludicrous speed” ring in the Insider program.

Yesterday, Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program at Microsoft talked about why the company couldn’t commit to a precise release schedule for Windows 10 builds, despite the fans’ desires. He also jokingly mentioned that a “ludicrous speed” ring had been discussed previously as a real alternative which could give users faster access to builds.

@MizJunAmi Uh oh, this feels like a possible #nerdsplosion. Choose your canon: Hyperspeed ring Warp speed ring Ludicrous speed ring

Interestingly, it looks like enough people in the community were excited about this proposition and the idea is now back on the table. Funnily enough the community started to vote on which name the proposed ring should have: many stuck with “ludicrous speed” but “warp speed” and “hyperspeed” were also in the running.

@Zangai Love the feedback, I think we"ve gotten enough to know we want to do something. Specific changes being decided upon. More soon.

Aul confirmed that the team was indeed listening and that concrete steps would be taken to address the slowness of the builds soon. He didn’t state whether this would indeed happen by implementing a new, faster ring or by being more aggressive with the Fast ring already available for Insiders though.

And yes, all of this applies to the mobile version as well, so those of you curious about Windows 10 for phones can rest easy. In either case, everyone is excited and anxious for a new Windows 10 build to be released but if you can’t wait here are some leaked screenshots to hold you over.
