Firefox 0.9 Released

The browser that has taken the internet by storm has just released version 0.9. The new release packs a whole bunch of improvements and new features, including :

  • A new default theme, Winstripe (Screenshots 1 and 2)

  • A new browser migration tool, allowing you to easily switch to Firefox from IE or Opera

  • New theme and extension managers

  • Reduced download size

  • A new help system

  • Improvements in speed and minor fixes

With the new release, Mozilla are also showing off the update features of their products. Update.mozilla.org will be a central place for updates to extensions, themes, and the browser itself. With the 0.9 release, Firefox has become "feature complete" (for a while), and the main improvements between 0.9 and 1.0 will be bug fixes, and stability improvements. For more detailed information on the release, have a look at our interview with Firefox developer, Ben Goodger. If you haven"t tried this browser out yet, I suggest you start now.
