Fruit Ninja currently the number one downloaded paid Windows 8 app

One of the most popular games for Windows 8 since it launched several months ago has been "Fruit Ninja," the touch-based arcade game from developer Halfbrick Studios. Until recently, the game cost $4.99 to download for the Windows 8 port. However, a recent decision to drop the price down to just $1.99 has resulted in "Fruit Ninja" going up to the number one position on Microsoft"s most downloaded paid Windows 8 app list.

"Fruit Ninja," which was in the number two slot in March, took over the number one spot from Rovio"s "Angry Birds Star Wars," which is now at number three on the list at the beginning of April. Another recently launched game, the kids game "Disney Fairies Hidden Treasures," is currently in the number two slot.

Seven of the top 10 most downloaded paid Windows 8 apps on Microsoft"s list are games, while another is an kids educational-games title. The other two apps on the list, Plex and My Media Center, are both media streaming apps. Here is what the current list looks like:

1. Fruit Ninja ($1.99)
