Rumor: Google+ app for Windows Phone 7 being worked on this week

It looks like a Google+ app for mobile phones that use Microsoft"s Windows Phone 7 operating system could be released fairly soon, perhaps sometime this week. According to a post on a fan made Google+ blog page dated July 14, among the items that Google is working on to improve its new social networking service this week is a Google+ app for WP7. The company has already released an app for Apple"s iOS devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) earlier this week and it quickly rose up to become the number one most downloaded free app on iTunes. There"s no word on what kinds of features the Windows Phone 7 app for Google+ will contain.

In related news, the massive growth of Google+, even as it still is technically an invite only service, continues to be felt on the Internet. The WebProNews.com web site has posted up word that according to the Experian Hitwise web site ranking service, the Google+ web site is currently the 638th most visited web site for US users. This is less than a month after Google launched the social networking service.

According to an Experian spokesperson, "Google+ received more than 1.8 (million) total visits last week ending July 16, 2011. That is an increase of 283 (percent) vs. the previous week and an increase of 821 (percent) vs. the week ending July 2nd." Experian also states that according to its numbers, males make up 57 percent of the visitors to the site. Also, 39 percent of the site"s visitors are between the ages of 25 and 34.
