Google has announced a couple of updates for its generative AI features. For starters, the conversational editing feature, which we previously saw on the Pixel 10 series, is now available to Android users in the US.
Conversational editing lets you tweak your pictures in Google Photos by typing a prompt or issuing voice commands. You can describe your edits, and advanced Gemini models will understand what you want and make the edits.
You can open the Google Photos editor and tap on "Help me edit" to use the feature. If you aren"t sure how to describe the edit, you can simply ask "make it better" or choose one of the provided suggestions.
However, the feature will be available to eligible Android users, according to Google. To become an eligible user, Google writes on a support page that you must be 18 or older, living in the US, have your Google account set to English (United States), have Face Groups enabled, and have location estimates enabled.
Apart from that, the search giant is also adding Spanish language support to AI Mode in Google Search globally. AI Mode was launched earlier this year, starting in the US. You can access it by clicking the "AI Mode" tab at the top of Google Search results or by navigating directly to its URL.
The feature uses a "query fan-out" technique to perform multiple related searches across subtopics and multiple data sources, consolidating the results into a single response. It"s an upgrade over AI Overviews, as it offers a conversational experience and allows you to ask follow-up questions.
AI Mode has been expanded to over 180 countries and now supports several non-English languages, live camera feed support, data visualization, and personalization features. Google also pushed a massive update to Google Chrome recently, making AI Mode, Gemini chatbot, and agentic capabilities native to the web browser.
