Google launches stream transfer for Google Home

Google has announced the launch of stream transfer, a new feature on Google Home devices that lets you move music, videos, and podcasts to other devices using your voice, the Google Home app, or the touch screen on the Nest smart display. This feature will be handy for those using several devices throughout the home who want to keep consuming content as they move to other rooms.

Stream transfer is quite a flexible tool, aside from saying “Hey Google, move the music to the living room speaker” to switch the music to another room, or “Hey Google, play it on the living room TV” to more your film from your Nest smart display to your Chromecast-enabled TV, you can do a few other nifty things from the Google Home app.

With the stream transfer update, you can better control your entertainment from the Google Home app. You can tap the cast button to bring up all of your enabled devices allowing you to then move your podcast and music to a new device. Additionally, you can now create a speaker group within the Home app which will allow you to fill the house with music.

According to Google, stream transfer is available with several audio apps including YouTube Music, Spotify, and Pandora, while video content can be streamed from YouTube. The update is rolling out now.
