Google rolls out AI Plus plan and AI Mode to dozens of new countries

Last month, Google introduced a new affordable subscription tier called "AI Plus" in Indonesia to attract more consumers. Following a positive reception, Google expanded the AI Plus plan to 40 more countries. Today, Google announced the expansion of Google AI Plus to 36 more countries.

With this expansion, Google AI Plus is now available in 77 countries around the world. Also, for a limited time, Google is offering 50% off for the first six months for all new users. The Google AI Plus plan comes with the following benefits:

  • Higher limits on Google"s Nano Banana image generation and editing model in the Gemini app
  • Higher limits on Google"s Veo 3 Fast video generation model in the Gemini app, and in image and filmmaking tools Whisk and Flow
  • Access to Gemini inside Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and more
  • Higher limits in NotebookLM
  • 200 GB of storage across Photos, Drive, and Gmail

Today, Google also announced that it is expanding the availability of AI Mode in Google Search to more than 35 new languages and over 40 new countries and territories. With this expansion, AI Mode in Google Search will be available in over 200 countries and territories.

AI Mode in Google Search, powered by Gemini models, allows users to enter their search query in natural language and get AI-powered responses. Also, users will be able to ask follow-up queries in their natural language based on the response received. Google claims that people using AI Mode are now asking questions nearly three times longer than traditional searches.

Hema Budaraju, Vice President, Product Management, Search, said the following regarding the AI Mode expansion:

The advanced reasoning and multimodal understanding of our custom Gemini model for Search allows AI Mode to truly grasp the subtleties of local languages, ensuring AI Mode is genuinely helpful and relevant in all the new languages we introduce.

This dual expansion indicates Google"s aggressive strategy to integrate its Gemini AI models more deeply into its core products and make them accessible to a wider international audience.
