Next week, on September 29, Google will host a media event at which it will formally launch Android 6.0 Marshmallow - the latest version of its hugely popular operating system - along with two "showcase" devices for its updated OS. After a flood of leaks in recent weeks, it seems there"s very little we don"t already know about the two Nexus handsets, but yet another detail has apparently been revealed.
According to Android Police, citing "multiple trusted sources", the larger of the new flagship-class Nexus phones will offer a 128GB storage option, in addition to 32GB and 64GB flavors, which were also offered on last year"s Nexus 6. A 128GB option on the new 5.7-inch Huawei-built device would allow it to compete more effectively with Apple"s recently-unveiled iPhone 6s Plus, which will officially go on sale on Friday.
The smaller 5.2-inch Nexus handset, which is being built by LG, will reportedly offer much more modest 16GB and 32GB storage options - probably in an effort to make the device more affordable - but it seems likely that this device will get a microSD slot.
A further report last week claimed to reveal the names of the two devices. The LG handset is said to be called the "Nexus 5X", while the Huawei range-topper will be the "Nexus 6P".
