Hands-on with the NuAns NEO Windows 10 Mobile handset

Perhaps one of the more interesting Windows 10 Mobile handsets to surface in recent months is the NuAns Neo. Although the handset will most likely never make it outside of Japan, we were lucky enough to get our hands on the unit at CES 2016.

The NuAns NEO isn"t a beastly handset by any means, but what it lacks in specifications, it more than makes up in its ability to be customized. What makes the "NEO" unique, is its ability to shed its two piece exterior via swappable shells. The color combinations and materials are plentiful, as you can see from the options below.

In hand, the device feels light, but is also a bit on the thicker side, which will most likely feel familiar to previous Windows Phone Lumia users.

The NuAns NEO offers:

  • 5-inch 720p display
  • Snapdragon 617
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB storage with expansion via microSD
  • 13MP camera, 5MP front-facing
  • 3350mAh battery
  • Wireless a/b/g/n/ac
  • USB Type-C with Quick Charge 2.0

While Microsoft"s Display Dock will undoubtedly cater to the minimalist, NuAns Continuum Dock is an elegant solution that can also double as a desk lamp (see above). As reported previously, the handset is currently available for pre-order in Japan and is expected to arrive sometime this month.
