Horror game Fear the Spotlight is free to claim on the Epic Games Store

The Epic Games Store has just refreshed its freebie promotion. The latest weekly offer has replaced Amnesia: The Bunker and Samorost 3, and now, PC gamers can grab Fear the Spotlight as a rare solo giveaway. As always, you have seven days to add the games permanently to your Epic Games Store library.

Coming in from developer Cozy Game Pals, Fear the Spotlight is a 2024-released survival horror experience. Its gameplay and visual aesthetic are inspired by classic 90s titles, focusing on storytelling, puzzle solving, and atmospheric tension rather than jump scares to draw players in.

The title follows the tale of two teenagers named Vivian and Amy, who get stuck inside a school following a botched séance.

"Sunnyside High has a dark history. When Vivian enters the deserted corridors for a seance with the rebellious Amy, she suddenly ends up alone, and at the mercy of the monster who wanders the halls," says the developer, describing its game. "Vivian must avoid its gaze, find her friend, and uncover the disturbing, murderous truth of a decades old tragedy."

As Vivian, players will be sneaking around corridors, classrooms, libraries, and hidden passageways while avoiding the mysterious creature hunting her, with only a few tools to help with surviving and solving puzzles.

The Fear the Spotlight giveaway on the Epic Games Store is live right now, and it will last until October 30, making it the last freebie of the month. PC gamers can add the title to their library for no cost during the seven-day timeframe before the next freebies from the store arrive, which will land on the same day at 8am PT. The giveaway lands just as the store begins its Halloween Sales too, which will last until November 3.
