Huawei begins Android Pie rollout for Mate 10 and P20 families

The latest version of Huawei"s EMUI Android skin is EMUI 9, and it coincides with Android 9.0 Pie. While newer devices are shipping with it, older devices are getting it now. Huawei announced today that EMUI 9.0 is now ready for global rollout.

Devices that will get it include the Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, P20, P20 Pro, Honor Play, Honor View 10, and Honor 10. Those that were already on the beta will get an OTA update that"s worth about 770MB. If you"re coming from EMUI 8 though, this update will come in at a full 4GB, which is about the size of a desktop operating system build.

It"s time to experience #EMUI 9.0 on your favorite #HUAWEI device. If you own one of these devices, EMUI 9.0 will be with you very soon! Stay tuned.#HigherIntelligence #HUAWEIMate10 #HUAWEIMate10Pro #HUAWEIP20#HUAWEIP20Pro #HonorPlay #HonorView10 #Honor10 pic.twitter.com/UOeFVd8UPU

The main features that Huawei is boasting with the update is HiVision AI. There are more optimizations for the Kirin 970 processor, and you"ll see more of the features that we have on the Mate 20, like more scenes with the AI Camera app.

It seems like few people are actually seeing the update so far, but keep an eye out for it. It"s rolling out over the next few days.
