Huawei is reportedly launching the Kirin 980 at IFA Berlin, Mate 20 coming in October

Huawei is riding quite a wave with its P20 Pro, despite having a rough year overall. As we wind down summer, it looks like the firm is set to announce its latest HiSilicon processor, the Kirin 980 during this year"s IFA Berlin event.

According to Gearburn, Huawei issued a press release to South African media this week, confirming that its 7nm Kirin 980 is coming. Furthermore, it stated that the new SoC will be making its debut in the unannounced Mate 20. The handset is slated to arrive sometime in October.

The Mate 20 has been leaked in great detail in the past and looks to be quite a beastly handset. The smartphone will reportedly be powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor, 6GB RAM, and have 128GB of internal storage. The could also arrive with a large 6.3-inch AMOLED display and 4,200mAh battery.

Luckily, we won"t have to wait long to hear about the HiSilicon 980, as IFA Berlin will take place starting on August 31 and will run through September 5.
