iTunes 11 likely to land today: It's out! [Updated]

Update: The report was right and iTunes 11 is now available to download on Macs with the Windows version probably coming in the following hours. The Apple site hasn"t been updated yet so you can only get it through the "Check for updates" option in iTunes, but this should change any minute now.

There’s a good chance we might see Apple’s iTunes 11 go live today, and there"s plenty of evidence to support it.

While doing a profile of Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services, WSJ’s Jessica Lessin mentions:

This week, Mr. Cue faces a test of how well Apple can keep up in online services with the launch of a new desktop version of iTunes, which is expected as soon as Thursday.

This new version of iTunes was supposed to launch back in October but it has been delayed due to “engineering issues that required parts to be rebuilt” as the report states. So right now Apple only has 2 days to deliver if it doesn"t want to break its promise.

iTunes 11 was shown off during the iPhone 5 keynote in September. It brings a new cleaner and more visually appealing design and better integration with iCloud, Apple’s cloud solution. It also brings UI changes to the store as well as some new features for podcast enthusiasts.

Be sure to stick around, we’ll update this article if the update goes live. In the meantime let us know, are you excited about the changes coming in iTunes 11?
