Google’s brand new Android revision, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) has just been released for all Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ devices. The release comes almost two weeks since the Jelly Bean demonstration shown at Google’s I/O conference.
Jelly Bean is an overall optimization and feature-packed Android revision, which looks more or less like Android 4.0 (Ice-cream Sandwich). Jelly Bean is now packed with Google Now, which is Google‘s revised answer to Apple’s Siri application. The build also sports Project Butter, a new way for the OS to run on hardware, with CPU, GPU and battery taken into consideration for maximum optimization – meaning very little to no lag or choppy animations.
Anyway, long story short, Jelly Bean for the HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus means that only SIM-unlocked devices will be prompted for the update. Those with carriers shouldn’t be getting the treatment just yet, but shouldn’t have too long to wait either way. The Nexus S and Motorola Xoom may have to wait a little longer until Jelly Bean is officially available for them. However, if you are one of the lucky ones with a HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus, just simply go to Settings > About Phone > System updates to grab Jelly Bean for your device.
