LG announces the first five-camera smartphone, the V40 ThinQ

LG today announced its new flagship smartphone, the V40 ThinQ. The firm has been boasting for some time that it has five camera sensors, with three on the back and two on the front.

On the back, it has a 12MP telephoto lens, a 12MP standard lens, and a 16MP wide-angle lens. Yes, if you"ve ever been torn by the telephoto lens on an iPhone and the wide-angle lens on an LG, you no longer have to choose. You can capture anything between a 107-degree wide-angle shot, and 2X optical zoom (or 3.2x the zoom of the wide-angle lens).

There are an additional two sensors on the front of the device, which come in at 5MP and 8MP. These combine for a portrait mode, which creates a bokeh effect on the background.

LG is promising an improved AI Cam, along with new features like Cine Shot, 3D Light Effect, Makeup Pro, Custom Backdrop, My Avatar, and AR Emoji.

Like previous devices in the V-series, it has an OLED display, which comes in at 6.4 inches and a 3120x1440 resolution. On top of that (or beneath it), LG says that the bottom bezel is 1.6mm thinner.

And of course, LG hasn"t abandoned the 3.5mm headphone jack that it"s put so much work into. It includes the company"s signature 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC for superior audio quality, and if you"re not using headphones, the speakers have Boombox sound.

The LG V40 ThinQ is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset, with 6GB RAM, either 64GB or 128GB of storage, and a 3,300mAh battery. LG will announce pricing and availability for the device soon.
