AI is infiltrating pretty much every facet of our lives, whether we like it or not. It is used in software development, web browsing, image generation, and even regular desktop use. With this much technological power available at the fingertips of every person, it"s clear that we must change some processes to adapt to current trends too. To that end, Meta is planning to allow certain job candidates to use AI during their coding tests.

In an internal memo seen by 404 Media and cited by Wired, Meta has shared plans to allow potential hires to use an "AI assistant" in interviews. To further prepare for this paradigm change, the company is also looking for volunteers who"d be willing to participate in mock interviews which allow them to leverage AI. This process will likely further shape and refine the actual interview experience.

Meta says that this shift in interview practices is reflective of the environment that engineers work in today and will also make cheating methodologies which employ LLMs less effective.

It is important to note that following Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg"s failed attempt to launch the metaverse with billions of dollars, the company has pivoted to an all-in AI strategy. The firm recently formed a Superintelligence team to take Meta to the lead in the AI race. This dedicated team consists of many ex-OpenAI employees who were personally poached by Zuckerberg through "ridiculous" job offers.

A Meta spokesperson confirmed the hiring plans to the media outlet, noting that it should be no surprise that this step is currently being considered. That said, it is important to note that the company is currently in the experimentation phase and there are no details yet about the scope of this change in hiring processes, potential guardrails to evaluate candidates fairly, or the timelines for implementation.
