Meta taps Midjourney's artistic AI to upgrade image generation for its users

Midjourney, an independent research lab that launched its text-to-image generation service in 2021, has rapidly emerged as one of the most popular and influential players in the AI market. Today, Meta announced a partnership with Midjourney to license its aesthetic technology that will be used in Meta"s future models and products.

Even though there are several other popular AI image generation models, Midjourney is known for its high quality and the artistic style of the images it produces. It is also known for its ability to generate visuals with a distinct, often painterly, aesthetic. Meta might use Midjourney"s tech to enable billions of its active users to generate better AI images.

Alexandr Wang, Chief AI Officer, Meta, said on X that this technical collaboration with Midjourney is part of its effort to team up with the best companies in the industry whose work and expertise complement its own. He mentioned that Meta was impressed with Midjourney, which has accomplished true feats of technical and aesthetic excellence.

4/ To ensure Meta is able to deliver the best possible products for people it will require taking an all-of-the-above approach. This means world-class talent, ambitious compute roadmap, and working with the best players across the industry.
