Microsoft 365 Business Premium is a solution that is primarily aimed at small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), who want to leverage enterprise Microsoft services like Teams, Outlook, Microsoft Defender for Business, mobile device management, and more. It typically suits companies which have 25-300 employees and can be cost-effective. Now, Microsoft has announced additional licenses that upgrade the security and compliance posture of an SMB without an enormous increase in cost.
There are three new suites in tow. The first is Microsoft Defender Suite for Business Premium, which protects against cyberattacks through Entra ID P2, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Plan 2 for comprehensive endpoint detection and response (EDR), secure email and online collaboration through Microsoft Defender for Office 365 P2, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps. Purchasing these licenses separately would have cost SMBs over $28.20 per user per month, but Microsoft Defender Suite for Business Premium has a price tag of $10/user/month, a 65% reduction.
Next, we have Microsoft Purview Suite for Business Premium, which is centered around protecting sensitive and private data. It contains Purview-based tooling and services like Insider Risk Management, Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Message Encryption, Customer Key, eDiscovery, Audit, and more. Purchasing these licenses separately would have cost upwards of $19/user/month, but with the new suit, it"s just $10/user/month, a significant reduction of 47%.
Finally, we have Microsoft Defender and Purview Suites for Business Premium, which essentially combines both the aforementioned packages into a single one, sporting a price tag of $15/user/month. Individually purchasing all the licenses would have cost SMBs over $47, which makes this a major discount of 68%.
All three of these suites are available as add-ons for Microsoft 365 Business Premium customers this month, as long as they have between 25-300 seats. Customers who already purchased the E5 Security Suite can transition to the new Defender Suite from the October billing cycle.
