Microsoft 365 Copilot is a popular AI assistant available for enterprises and businesses, both as a standalone app and inside Microsoft 365 apps, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Thousands of companies and enterprises have already deployed Microsoft 365 Copilot for their employees.
Today, Microsoft announced a new Microsoft 365 Copilot offering for the education market. This new academic offering will cost $18 USD per user per month for educators, staff, and students ages 13 and older, starting in December 2025. As shown in the image below, Microsoft 365 Copilot for education also includes access to AI agents, including the popular Analyst and Researcher agents. Users can also create custom AI agents based on their data.
In addition to this new offering, Microsoft also announced new AI-powered experiences designed for teaching and learning.
First, Teach is a new AI agent for teachers that will enable them to improve their class preparation with several customizable features. For example, teachers can create lesson plans, draft materials like quizzes and rubrics, and customize content based on language, reading level, length, difficulty, and more. This new Teach agent is now rolling out for free within Microsoft 365 Copilot for education customers. Microsoft is also planning to bring Learning Management System (LMS) integration in the near future.
Second, the new Study and Learn AI agent will enable students to better understand their subjects. They can practice topics with exercises, study a specific topic, and interact with the AI through several built-in activities like flashcards, matching, fill-in-the-blank, or quizzes. This new Study and Learn agent is coming to preview in November 2025, and it will also be available for free.
Finally, Microsoft announced that Copilot Chat is coming to LMSs such as Canvas, Schoology, Brightspace, Blackboard, and Moodle through the Microsoft 365 LTI in preview in December.
