Microsoft has updated the password monitor on Edge with some nifty features to help users keep track of weak, reused, and leaked passwords.
The Redmond giant recently updated its feature roadmap page to include details surrounding the feature. Microsoft notes that the updated password monitor will alert users when their passwords are "weak and/or reused across accounts".
Beginning in Microsoft Edge v.91, we will give feedback to you on which of your passwords are weak and/or reused across accounts. This will allow you to stay informed about your security on the web.
Earlier today, u/Leopeva64-2 posted a GIF showing the feature in action. Once enabled, Edge will show a health bar beside the saved passwords. The bar will show the password health and may decrease if the password is reused or leaked in a data breach.
Moreover, Microsoft will allow users to sort passwords alphabetically or by their health. Edge users can also filter the passwords to show only reused, leaked, or weak passwords.
According to the feature roadmap, the updated password monitor is expected to roll out in May 2021. However, Microsoft is yet to update the Edge stable channel to version 91 so you may have to wait to try out the new feature. You can, however, download Microsoft Edge Canary to try out the new capability. Do note that Microsoft is currently doing a staged roll out so you may not see the updated password monitor right away.
