Microsoft Hardware celebrates 30 year anniversary

30 years ago this week, Microsoft launched a new division: Microsoft Hardware. Since then the division has been busy designing and releasing a number of PC-related hardware devices, beginning with the first Microsoft Mouse in 1983. Microsoft Hardware has created and released a ton of difference PC mouse products over the past three decades along with keyboards, gamepads, joysticks, web cameras and more.

In a post on the official Microsoft Hardware blog site, the company said:

A lot has changed since our humble beginnings in 1982. This was the year we began to realize that the complete PC experience should encompass so much more than a strong and efficient computer. Building on our extensive background and knowledge of PCs and computing, we paved the way for the hardware industry by delivering products that make the time you spend with your PC more efficient… and better yet, more enjoyable.

Microsoft also announced that one of its more popular and recent PC mouse devices, the Arc Touch Mouse, is now available for purchase in two new colors: Sangria Red Diamond and Cement Gray. The price for the new version is $59.99.

In addition, the Next at Microsoft blog site has posted up a new video feature filmed at Microsoft"s CES 2012 booth. The feature goes over a display shown at CES where Microsoft celebrates its hardware releases, which include the Xbox 360 game console and the Kinect motion gesture camera.
