Microsoft has released Photosynth for Windows Phone 8

Microsoft launched its Photosynth app for iOS devices in 2011 and later ported the app to Windows Phone 7 in 2012. This week, a version of the panorama photo app was finally released for Windows Phone 8 devices.

As with the iOS and WP7 versions, the Photosynth app for Windows Phone 8 allows users to take full 360 degree panorama pictures by sticking together a number of separate photos, in both horizontal and vertical views. You can see an example of the panorama view in the above photo taken on Mount Baker. You can check out the full Photosynth image on the app"s official website. Once you have taken your own majestic image, you can share it with friends via Twitter or Facebook, or publish it on Bing.com.

The Windows Phone 8 version of the app, which has the version number of 1.5, includes some new features, including being able to view other Photosynth images from friends directly from the app itself. The Photosynth app can also be launched directly from the built-in camera app in this new version, and it adds some extra exposure and white balance locking options. Finally, Microsoft says there are some general, but unnamed, bug fixes and improvements in this new update.
