Two and a half years ago, Microsoft opened up on its development process for Office 365 by publishing the first roadmap for its productivity-focused platform. Today, the company has launched a new Office 365 Roadmap site, which it says will better serve users" needs across a range of devices.
Like the original version, the new Roadmap site includes details of new features in development, along with those that are currently rolling out, those that have previously been released, and some which have been cancelled. Microsoft"s Brian Levenson said that the new site offers an improved experience for users accessing it on mobile devices, but there are other enhancements too.
"By popular request," he said, the items on the roadmap will also include a unique ID, which will be used in the Message Center communications as well." He noted that Microsoft has also made it "easier to quickly review details of roadmap items."
Levenson added that the company "made an emergency decision to proceed urgently with the new site", due to an unspecified issue with the previous version. The new site isn"t yet feature-complete, and Microsoft promises that "accessibility fixes and ongoing improvements" are on the way.
