Microsoft has begun the rollout of its latest system update for its Xbox One console to all owners of the device. The May update was previously released to a select few testers as part of Microsoft"s early access program.
The announcement of the rollout was made earlier this morning by Microsoft"s director of Xbox Live programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb on his Twitter page. As previously announced, this latest download will add a new sound mixer to the Xbox One, which will let owners control the volume levels of two apps when using Snap mode. It will also allow users to control the volume levels for the Kinect sensor for chat purposes.
This month"s update will include an optional feature in the Settings section that, when enabled, gives the Xbox One a way to collect voice samples via Kinect so the team at Microsoft can use them to help improve the console"s voice command experience. Finally, this update will enable owners to immediately download the next update, without having to wait for the customary automatic rollout, when it becomes available.
Microsoft has already announced it plans to update the Xbox One in the near future so that users can navigate the console"s menus better with a controller, thanks to the company deciding to release a version of the product without its Kinect sensor.
