Microsoft Office 2013 beta now pushed back to later in July?

Last week rumors hit the Internet that Microsoft had completed the first public beta build of Office 2013 and that the public beta of the next version in Microsoft"s popular productivity software suite should be released sometime this week. Now that same web site that first reported those rumors now claims that release time table has been delayed.

In a new story today, bouweenpc.nl claims, again via unnamed sources, that Microsoft found too many critical bugs in the latest Office 2013 beta build that have to be addressed. The site now reports that Microsoft won"t release the beta until sometime later in July.

The story claims that when it is released, the beta will be officially called the Office 2013 Consumer Preview. If true, this would certainly be in line with what Microsoft has been doing lately with the labels of its Windows 8 pre-release versions.

One of the other reasons for the delay, according to the story, is that the previously rumored Office Marketplace for Office 2013 is not yet ready. This would be similar to the Windows Store and the Windows Phone Marketplace, where third party developers could offer free and paid add-on programs to Office 2013 programs.

This past weekend, some of the official logos for Microsoft Office 2013 found their way on the Internet. Also, it appears that Office 2013 will have support for PDF editing.
