Microsoft releases Windows 10 build 10586.71 for non-Insider PCs

While PCs on the Windows Insider Fast ring can now install the latest preview build 14251, the most recent release for non-Insiders arrived two weeks ago, as a minor update that bumped the build number up to 10586.63.

But today, Microsoft also released a new cumulative update, build 10586.71, for PCs not enrolled on the Insider Program, as first spotted by Windows Central.

As with other cumulative updates, this one - identified as KB3124262 - is light on new features, focusing instead on bug fixes and stability improvements.

Indeed, as you may have surmised from the incremental increase in the build number, 10586.71 is a small update to previous builds from the Threshold (TH2) development branch, as opposed to the newer releases from the Redstone branch, which have made their way to Insiders.
