It was only a couple of months ago that Mojang announced the next update for Minecraft to be Mounts of Mayhem. As its name suggests, the update has a big focus on the mounts that the sandbox game offers. Mojang has been testing the update using preview and snapshot players for weeks now, and soon, everyone will be able to jump into the new content.
Today, Mojang revealed that the Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem update is releasing on December 9.
Starting with the mounts, the Nautilus is the biggest addition to the world of Minecraft. Spawning in oceans, players can tame them and equip them with a saddle to get an underwater mount for the first time. On top of that, the Breath of the Nautilus effect will affect the rider, which will give unlimited oxygen to explore the depths. To keep them protected, Nautilus Armor is an option.
There is also an undead variant of the Nautilus that spawns with a trident-wielding Drowned riding it to give players some trouble while exploring.
At the same time, the Camel Husk is another undead mount that"s being added to the desert biomes. This camel variant spawns with two hostile riders on it (one husk and one parched), and after dealing with the duo, players can tame the undead mount with a rabbit"s foot. They also don"t burn in sunlight, and it"s the tallest mount added to the game so far, sitting at 2.375 blocks.
The spear is another big addition of this update. Coming in as a brand-new tiered weapon , the spear is able to reach further than a sword and touts a jab attack and a charge attack. Crafted with two sticks and an ingot, it can even be wielded while on a mount.
Other additions of this update include Netherite horse armor and zombie horses that spawn in Survival, as well as the swimming ability for the Horse, Donkey, Mule, Zombie Horse, and Camel mounts.
The Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem is releasing across PC, consoles, and mobile devices on Bedrock Edition, as well as the PC Java Edition, on December 9.
