Today, Motorola announced two new handsets from its entry-level portfolios, the Moto G Fast and the new Moto E. Priced at $199, the Moto G Fast sits at the bottom of the popular Moto G lineup, with the Power and Stylus coming in at $249 and $299, respectively. The whole idea is to offer a fast phone at a low price point.
To achieve that, Motorola used a Snapdragon 665 chipset, which is pretty impressive for a device that only costs a couple hundred dollars. There are some compromises though, such as the 720p resolution on the 6.4-inch 19:9 hole-punch display. It also comes with just 3GB RAM.
With a 4,000mAh battery, Motorola is promising two days of battery life on a single charge, and the HD display helps with that. You"ll find a triple-lens camera on the back, including a 16MP f/1.7 rapid focus main sensor, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The only color is Pearl White.
And then there"s the new Moto E, which comes in at $149. As you can see, Motorola likes its $50 price tiers, and the more you pay, the more you get. The Moto E packs a Snapdragon 632 chipset, so you do get eight cores at that price, along with a 6.2-inch HD+ 19:9 display, 2GB RAM, and 32GB of on-board storage.
The battery is 3,550mAh, with Motorola promising 42 hours of battery life, and it has a dual-lens camera. There"s a 13MP f/2.0 sensor with PDAF and a 2MP depth sensor. It comes in Midnight Blue and Champagne Pink.
Both devices are available for pre-order beginning today, and they"ll start shipping on June 12. The Moto G Fast is available unlocked from Best Buy B&H, Walmart, Amazon, and Motorola.com, and it will be coming to Boost Mobile. The Moto E is available from Best Buy, B&H, Walmart, amazon, and Motorola.com, with carrier availability coming from T-Mobile, Boost Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Consumer Cellular, Xfinity Mobile, Republic Wireless, and Verizon.
