Mozilla Firefox for iOS public preview now available - but only in New Zealand

After announcing Mozilla for iOS back in December, the company has started rolling out the app as a public preview, starting in New Zealand.

The Firefox team announced in May that it would release the public beta soon. Today, it has finally released Firefox for iOS, although Apple"s restrictions on third-party engines still exist, which is why Mozilla had initially been reluctant to bring its own browser to the platform.

The release of the public preview will allow Mozilla to collect feedback to help improve the app"s performance and feature-set ahead of its release later this year. Firefox for iOS includes a built-in option for sending feedback through Settings > Support > Send Feedback.

Firefox for iOS also comes with an "Intelligent Search" feature, which provides search results with the options to switchproviders. It also offers the flexibility of "Firefox Sync" - to synchronize your bookmarks, browser history, tabs and password with your desktop or other devices via the same Firefox account - along with "Visual Tabs" to glance over the pages you"ve got open.

You can sign up here if you want to be notified about the release of Firefox for iOS in other countries as well.
