We are proud to announce that Neowin has decided to register the "Live Chat" add-on for Invision Power Board and that has gone live just minutes ago.
We have been testing it throughout the public beta of Invision Power Board 1.2 and we feel we have it tweaked far enough to integrate seamlessly into Neowins board. This chat uses Java so you will need the JavaVM (or the Sun version) in order to see it if using Windows. It is fully endorsed by Neowin unlike the semi-official IRC chats.
What we are aware of is: you can"t refresh this Java applet in the same window. Using IE you have to open a new window in order to load the Java applet.
You need to know your forum password in order to connect as this feature is only available to Neowin members. All moderators on Neowin are OP"s, you can see this because their name is purple, normal chat members are dark blue. The chat is also logged at the source of the class (not on Neowins servers) so abuse can be backlogged, which brings me to the introduction of a new group on Neowin "Restricted (chat)" if you are in this group you cannot use the chat and have been banned from it. So like all things, please be nice and don"t get yourself banned.
