Microsoft is planning to bring a new AI-powered landing page to Copilot Notebooks which will automatically generate summaries and insights from the references. Now, when a user opens a Notebook, they will instantly get a high-level overview of their notebook content without having to manually synthesize it.
A public preview of this feature launched in November and the general availability release was to start rolling out in January before completing in February, however this has been delayed and now the rollout began earlier this month with completion expected by mid-March.
The new overview page is using a fine-tuned Copilot prompt that picks out and organizes the most important information from existing notebook data. For licensed users, this will act as the default landing experience allowing you to get up to speed faster. Access to these insights will require a valid Microsoft 365 Copilot license, it will be enabled by default so admins won’t have to do anything to activate it.
Notably, while this feature will be on by default, it won’t change core user workflows or existing data governance policies. Organizations that use Copilot Notebooks will see the new interface without having to change their permissions.
To ensure access to this feature, admins should ensure they have the necessary Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses assigned. They should also look to update internal training materials if needed to reflect the new default landing page. Looking to the future, Microsoft says that it plans to bring the feature to Android and iOS in a future release, without specifying dates.
