New U.S. Xbox One consoles to get free copy of Forza Motorsport 5

Microsoft is already selling a limited edition version of its Xbox One console with a free digital copy of Titanfall, but today the company announced that, starting next week, it will give U.S. residents a way to get a free copy of Forza Motorsport 5 with the purchase of the $499.99 regular edition of the console.

The news comes from Microsoft"s Larry Hryb on his Major Nelson site. There are few details about this offer, such as which retailers will be participating and the exact date when it will begin. Hryb said that the free digital code for the acclaimed racing sim game will be offered for a "limited time" with the Xbox One.

In 2013, Microsoft did offer a free digital code to download the full version of FIFA 14 for people who pre-ordered the Xbox One before its launch in November, However, that offer was just for European, Australian and New Zealand residents and did not extend to the U.S. launch of the console..

This bit of news comes on the heels of Sony"s announcement that it has now sold over 6 million units of its rival PlayStation 4 console since its November launch. Microsoft has not issued an update on Xbox One sales since January when it said it had sold over 3 million units from launch to the end of 2013.
