Nokia paying for AT&T store employees to use Lumia 900?

Earlier today we reported that AT&T stores are now getting shipments of Nokia"s Lumia 900 in their locations for a rumored launch on April 9. Now WPCentral.com reports via unnamed sources that there"s even more to this story than first revealed.

The story claims that AT&T is offering its store employees a way to get a free Lumia 900 device for company use, in place of Apple"s iPhone or some Android devices. The report claims that Nokia is fronting the money for this employee program which could total as much as $25 million.

The story says that AT&T is participating in this program with Nokia in order to make itself more than just an iPhone wireless provider. The financial boost provided by Nokia to promote the Lumia 900 could allow AT&T to do just that. The story claims that Nokia expects up to 80 percent of AT&T store employees to use the program and pick up their new company-funded Lumia 900.

Clearly the launch of the Lumia 900 is huge for Nokia, AT&T and of course Microsoft"s Windows Phone OS. We will be keeping an eye out for more Lumia 900 news as it approaches its rumored April 9th launch date in the US.
