Nokia reveals new health products as it phases out Withings brand name

Last year, Nokia purchased the health-oriented company, Withings; now the company has re-branded its Withings products under the Nokia name and released three new products to accompany the transition. The three new products are a Wi-Fi BMI (body mass index) scale, a soft cuff blood pressure monitor and a brand new redesign of its Health Mate app.

The BMI scale is called Nokia Body and retails for $59.95 (£55 in the UK), making it the cheapest device in Nokia’s scale line-up. Nokia Body is a fairly simple smart device, it will track your weight and give you details about your BMI. You can sync all this information via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to the new Health Mate app.

The blood pressure monitor, named Nokia BPM+, is softer and more portable than the existing Withings blood pressure monitor. The device is now more comfortable to wear but can be rolled up into a more compact form allowing for greater portability. The device measures systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate, and it"s FDA and medical CE approved. The BPM+ retails for $129.95 (£115).

The last product to be introduced was the Health Mate app. It features five programs; Sleep Smarter, Better Body, Pregnancy Tracker, Healthier Heart and the Leaderboard. These programs, which were designed by professionals, will last eight weeks typically, but the Pregnancy Tracker will last for nine months. The new app is available for supported devices including Android and iOS.
