Now more people can use Gemini 3 in Search as Google announces major expansion

It"s been a few weeks since Google introduced its latest flagship generative AI model, Gemini 3, making its different variants available to free and premium users. Gemini 3 Pro was initially available in the US to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers via the "Thinking" option in the Gemini app"s drop-down menu and in AI Mode.

The search giant has now announced that Gemini 3 is expanding to AI Mode in 120 countries across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and EMEA. Here"s a list of the countries and regions that support Gemini 3 in AI Mode:

Google AI Pro and Ultra users in these countries can select the "Thinking with 3 Pro" option in Google Search"s AI Mode to use Gemini 3 Pro for their prompts. However, the latest model currently supports only English.

Gemini 3 is better at understanding the intent and nuances of user prompts with its upgraded reasoning and multimodal capabilities. It has improved the AI Mode"s query fan-out technique to find new content that it may have previously missed, according to the company.

Compared to past launches, Google has been proactive this time and made its latest models available to users quickly. Gemini 3 surpassed other leading models, including OpenAI"s GPT-5.1, on the LMArena Leaderboard.

With Gemini 3, Google also updated its model selection feature such that "Search will intelligently route your most challenging questions in AI Mode and AI Overviews to this frontier model — while continuing to use faster models for simpler tasks."

Apart from that, Google is also expanding the Nano Banana Pro image generation model, which is part of the Gemini 3 family, to AI Mode in more countries. It will be available in English to the users of Google AI Pro and Ultra plans.

The latest announcement adds to the list of recent Gemini updates from Google, including new interactive diagrams for science and the ability to spot AI-generated images in the Gemini app.
