Nvidia GeForce NOW gets VR upgrades just as free tier loses Cyberpunk, Forza, Ark

Nvidia has a brand-new update waiting for GeForce NOW users, and it"s a double feature, bringing fresh games and a tech upgrade for virtual reality. The latest games include the new open-world adventure Crimson Desert by Pearl Abyss and even Fallout 3 from Bethesda.

With the latest tech upgrade, Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest, and Pico VR devices are being upgraded from 60 FPS to 90 FPS streaming. This is now available to Ultimate tier membership holders.

"Members can transform the space around them into a personal gaming theater with GeForce NOW, playing favorite PC titles on a massive virtual screen," adds Nvidia. "With support for up to 90 fps for Ultimate members, gameplay feels smoother, movement more natural and action more comfortable."

Here are the games joining GeForce NOW"s supported list this week:

  • Everwind (New release on Steam, March 17, GeForce RTX 5080-ready)
  • Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator (New release on Steam, March 17)
  • Crimson Desert (New release on Steam, March 19, GeForce RTX 5080-ready)
  • Fallout 3 (Steam)

The free tier of GeForce NOW is going through some changes too, but not the good kind this time. Starting April 1, Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Motorsport, Icarus, and Ark: Survival Ascended will not be available to free users of the streaming service, with only Premium and above members being able to enjoy them.

Nvidia said that this is due to the hardware dedicated to free-tier players not meeting the games" "updated minimum system requirements."

As always, unlike subscription services like Game Pass or EA Play, a copy of a game must be owned by the GeForce NOW member (or at least have a license via PC Game Pass) to start playing via NVIDIA"s cloud servers. There is a limit to how many hours subscribers can use the service per month.
