Unlike most companies that are extremely tight-lipped, OnePlus has been pretty generous when it comes to news about its upcoming handset, the OnePlus 5. While there was a leaked render towards the end of April, it wasn"t until the beginning of May that we received confirmation that a new handset was on the way, just in time for summer. Now, the firm"s CEO, Pete Lau, has chimed in with another nugget of information regarding the successor to the OnePlus 3T.
As you can see from the image above, Lau took to social media site Weibo to state that he believes the OnePlus 5 will be the thinnest flagship. Despite its svelte design, he insisted that the handset"s thinness will not sacrifice the user"s experience. This sounds great considering that only a couple years ago, companies were pushing to offer the thinnest handsets available, only to sacrifice battery life and other aspects of the experience.
So far, it is known that the upcoming device will offer the latest specs, including Qualcomm"s Snapdragon 835 processor. If the leaked specifications are to be believed, it will also have 8GB RAM, 4000mAh battery, and dual camera setup on the rear. As far as its external design goes, it appears that the handset will sport a slightly cleaner look, removing the antenna lines that were so prominent on the OnePlus 3 and 3T.
While Samsung and LG offer impressive devices, the strength of OnePlus has always been its ability to offer a similar experience to rival flagships, at a much lower price. But with each iteration, the firm has bumped up the price, so one can only wonder how much of a difference there will be compared to its competitors when it releases the OnePlus 5.
