OnePlus One users in India will get Cyanogen OS 12

OnePlus One users in India will be provided with Cyanogen OS 12 even as the company works on its own Oxygen OS. It has been quite a rough ride for OnePlus in entering the Indian market, which started with a tiff with Cyanogen over exclusive licensing rights with local manufacturer Micromax for its Yureka smartphone. The sales of the OnePlus One were briefly banned in the country as well for the same reason.

OnePlus began working on its own Oxygen OS and it was expected that the Indian users will be updated to this OS to circumvent the licensing issue while the global variants would continue to get Cyanogen updates. However, it does not seem to be the case in the short term as the company"s CEO has tweeted that Indian users will be getting the next CM 12 S update OTA.

.@hescoresgalores no it"s not. CM12S will be delivered via OTA.

While this is an exciting bit of news for Indian users who have been anxious to know what form of Lollipop will land on their devices, the actual rollout will still require time as the phased rollout starts globally on March 30th.
