Opera Pro VPN gets a new protocol, more locations, and faster speeds

Opera was among the first browsers to introduce a free built-in VPN for its customers. For those who need more, Opera also offers a pro tier, which features additional capabilities, system-wide protection, etc. Today, the company is improving its VPN services with an updated premium Pro tier with faster speeds, more features, more locations, and other enhancements.

Opera Pro VPN is a device-wide VPN service, which means it runs all traffic through the VPN, not just what you browse in Opera. It supports up to six devices (Windows, macOS, and Android) via Opera One, Opera GX, and Opera for Android.

With Opera Pro VPN, you get faster connections across 48 locations worldwide (15 more than the current version of Opera Pro VPN) with the open-source Lightway protocol. The latter promises better security and reliability, thanks to using Rust (easier on battery) and post-quantum protection enabled by default. Opera also remains committed to its no-logs policy, and it promises to deliver more improvements, including "highly requested features." Note that Opera"s free VPN is not going anywhere.

Opera Pro VPN is a paid service, and the good news is that the price is not changing with the updated version. You can subscribe for $8 per month, $5 per month (paid upfront for six months), or $4 per month (when paid upfront for 12 months).

With the updated tier, Opera will honor existing subscriptions and update users at no extra cost. The update will also be completely seamless and occur automatically next time you launch the browser (mobile users need to update Opera in the Google Play Store). Those using the free tier can try Opera Pro VPN with a free seven-day trial.

You can learn more about Opera Pro VPN on the official website.
