Ovi Maps APIs will be supported in Windows Phone 7 Mango

When Microsoft partnered with Nokia, it opened the door for Microsoft to have access to Nokia"s large portfolio of applications and products. While there has been little talk on what Nokia will be bringing to the table other than hardware, it now appears that Ovi Maps will be supported in Windows Phone 7.

The information comes from the Nokia developer forums (as spotted by forum user GP007) which states that the Ovi maps API will be supported in upcoming Mango devices. The developer states:

The current Ovi Maps API will be supported in the oncoming devices. Some changes for code may be needed, also some dedicated features may be implemented - we will get more information and details on this during the coming months.

This is most likely one of the first Nokia based features that we will see ported over to the Mango platform. Nokia has been given elevated privileges when it comes to WP7 as it is believed that this helped lock in Nokia to the Windows Phone platform.

What other features Nokia will be bringing to the platform is unknown but according to the post, it seems we may find out a bit more in the coming months.
