Phone Link now lets you remotely control your Windows 11 PC

Microsoft continues tightening Windows 11-Android integration with new features for Phone Link. The company announced a new update for Windows Insiders, which introduces new remote controls, recent activity overview, and onboarding improvements.

The updated Phone Link app has a redesigned interface, which now works as a "connected PC experience hub," a single place where you can access everything PC-related on your phone"s screen. In addition to a refreshed user interface, the Phone Link app features the following improvements:

  • Recent Activity: Quick access to the recently received files and clipboard history.
  • PC Status: You can check your computer"s battery level and Wi-Fi status.
  • Remote Actions: Phone Link now has remote controls for your PC. You can lock your computer, send files to it, or cast your phone"s screen.

In addition, Microsoft has reworked the initial setup experience, which now lets you connect directly from your Android phone with no PC required:

We’re updating the onboarding experience that lets you set up Link to Windows directly from your Android device — no PC required to get started. This helps you discover the value of connected experiences right away, with contextual permission prompts and a simplified setup with clear instructions on what to do next when you get to your PC. These features are designed to give you more control and flexibility, especially when you’re away from your desk.

The updated Phone Link app is rolling out gradually to Windows Insiders. To try it out, head to the Google Play Store, enroll in the Link to Windows app beta program, and make sure it is running version 1.25071.155 or newer. On your PC, update the Phone Link app to version 1.25062.83.0 or newer. Then, pair your phone to your PC and ensure both are logged in with the same Microsoft account.
