Playground Games reveals Forza Horizon 6 music, performance, and more as the game goes gold

Forza Horizon 6 is launching on May 19, with early access kicking off on May 15 for those who preordered the Premium Edition or Premium Upgrade. Today, Playground Games revealed that the game has officially gone gold. This term means the game is now being pressed onto discs for retail sales and digital release. Alongside the announcement, developers revealed new details about Forza Horizon 6, including radio stations, preloads, performance details, and more.

Xbox users and those who preordered the game in the Microsoft Store can now download it ahead of its launch. The Steam version is not ready for pre-download, but expect it to show up on your device soon. This gives users with slow internet plenty of time to get all the files ready to jump into action as soon as the game launches. And even those with fast internet have to download quite a bit. On Xbox Series X, Forza Horizon 6 requires at least 135 GB (130 GB on Xbox Series S), while the PC version needs up to 160 GB on a solid-state drive.

Music and radio stations are a big part of the Forza Horizon experience. In Forza Horizon 6, there are nine radio stations full of J-pop, drum & bass, electropop, rock, alternative indie, hip-hop, synthwave, and modern classics. The full list of tracks and artists is available in the announcement post.

If you want to play the game on an Xbox, you will get to choose between two modes: Quality and Performance. On Xbox Series X, Quality mode runs at native 4K 30 FPS with increased visual fidelity, while Performance mode targets 4K with dynamic scaling to maintain 60 FPS. On Xbox Series S, Quality mode is 1440p 30 FPS, while Performance mode drops to 1080p 60 FPS with dynamic scaling.

Those who played previous Forza games will also get loyalty reward cars:

  • Forza Motorsport - 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray
  • Forza Horizon 5 - 2021 Mercedes-AMG One
  • Forza Horizon 4 - 2016 Aston Martin Vulcan
  • Forza Horizon 3 - 2016 Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4
  • Forza Horizon 2 - 2014 Lamborghini Huracán LP-610-4
  • Forza Horizon - 2013 Dodge SRT Viper GTS

Forza Horizon 6 also brings new features and accessibility improvements, including Auto Drive to the destination (the car can drive itself so that you can enjoy the scenery), proximity radar to help you avoid collisions, HUD customization, audio cues, and High Contrast Mode. Future game updates will also add American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL) for cinematics.
