Popular Windows AI debloater redesigned with native Windows 11 UI

Not everyone is okay with what Microsoft is doing with Windows 11, particularly with its AI-powered experience. As such, there is a pretty strong demand for tools and apps that can declutter the operating system, remove bloat, and purge AI. Microsoft, unlike Mozilla, is not giving its customers a single-click solution on the system level, so third-party apps are here to help. Winslop is one such tool, and its latest update makes it look much more modern.

Before version 26.03.40, Winslop looked like something straight from Windows 98. Besides looking very old and outdated, the app"s WinForms-based design was less friendly to touchscreen devices. Now, with the latest release, Winslop is based on WinUI 3, Windows 11"s native UI framework. Besides better looks, this also brings proper dark theme support to the app, so those preferring dark themes can now enjoy a more consistent experience.

Interestingly, although version 26.03.40 is now fully WinUI 3-based, the developer published some strong words about the framework, claiming porting the app was "a miserable experience":

Now it feels like you need three frameworks, four patterns, and a ceremonial XAML ritual just to show a button. We managed to land humans on the moon in 1969 with computers weaker than a modern toaster — but in 2026 a simple Windows UI apparently requires half the Microsoft ecosystem and a small architectural thesis.

Belim, the creator of Winslop, now wants to hear your opinion on whether you want Winslop to be a "modern" WinUI 3 app or if they should get back to the classic retro design look, which is "lean, fast, efficient, and without half the universe attached to a button." If you want to help the developer make up their mind, cast your vote on GitHub via this link.

The latest Winslop release is available for download from its GitHub repository.
