Realme U1 powered by MediaTek Helio P70 SoC launched in India

Realme has today launched its first selfie-centric smartphone in India, dubbed the Realme U1. This is the first phone under the company"s new U-series and the world"s first device to be powered by MediaTek Helio P70 octa-core chipset, the successor of Helio P60 SoC.

The highlight of the smartphone is its front-facing camera, which is equipped with a 25-megapixel Sony IMX576 sensor with f/2.0 aperture. It supports 296 facial detection points, AI Beauty+ mode, AI Face Unlock, and a few other AI-based features. ​It also comes with a dual camera setup on the back, consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a two-megapixel secondary sensor. It features Portrait Lighting, Slo-Mo video support, AI Scene Detection, and Bokeh effect.

The phone sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ dewdrop display with 90.8% screen-to-body ratio and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It comes in two models, 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB onboard storage. It also supports expandable storage of up to 256GB, thanks to a dedicated microSD card slot.

In terms of connectivity, the device supports dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, while also including a 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro-USB port. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2 and is powered by a 3,500mAh battery with AI Power Master for battery optimization.

The Realme U1 will be available in three color options, Ambitious Black, Brave Blue, and Fiery Gold. The 3GB RAM model will be priced at ₹11,999 (~$170) while the 4GB RAM model will cost ₹14,999 (~$212). The phone will be up for sale from 5th December, exclusively via Amazon India. ​Along with the Realme U1, the company has also launched Realme Buds and the Realme U1 Iconic Case. The Realme Buds come with 11nm drivers, a magnetic switch design, Kevlar fabric wire, and a three-button in-line remote. Both accessories are priced at ₹499 (~$7).
