Last month, Samsung brought One UI 8.5 beta to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 FE, and the Galaxy Tab S11 series. Now, Samsung has announced that it is continuing the expansion of its One UI 8.5 beta program to the Galaxy S23 series, Z Fold5, Z Flip5, S23 FE, and the A36.
Samsung is rolling it out across the United States, United Kingdom, India, and Korea, with some device specific limitations. For instance, the beta for the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 is restricted to users in the U.S. and Korea, while the Galaxy A36 beta is currently exclusive to India. Users on eligible devices can register for the beta program through the Samsung Members app.
Alongside the expanded rollout, Samsung is bringing its recently announced AirDrop support through Quick Share to the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Galaxy Z Flip6.
Quick Share interoperability with Apple"s AirDrop was announced last month when it debuted on the new Galaxy S26 series, launching first in South Korea before a wider release to other regions including North America, Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. If your Galaxy device supports AirDrop, you can find a "Share with Apple devices" option buried in the Quick Share settings menu. The catch is that the receiving iPhone or Mac must have its AirDrop settings switched to "Everyone for 10 Minutes" for the connection to work.
One UI 8.5 was launched in its finished, stable form on March 11, 2026, exclusively alongside the release of the brand new Galaxy S26 series. But for older Galaxy devices, the software is still in beta, with the older Galaxy S25 series being the first to join the program back in December last year (it is currently receiving its 9th beta update).
There are rumors floating around that Samsung"s planning to release a stable build for the S25 lineup on the very last day of this month, April 30th. One UI 8.5 brings new features like Audio Broadcast, which lets you use your phone as a localized PA system, and Storage Share, which grants you remote access to files on your other Galaxy devices.
