Samsung's Galaxy F62 brings Note10's Exynos 9825 SoC, 7,000mAH battery for ₹23,999

Samsung today announced the Galaxy F62, a new mid-range smartphone for the Indian market. The device’s specs are headlined by a massive 7,000mAh battery and an Exynos 9825 processor. The offering starts at an asking price of ₹23,999 ($330 USD), a sweet-spot for the Indian mid-range market.

The Galaxy F62 features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus Infinity-O display with a 2400 x 1080 FullHD+ resolution. The front of the device houses a 32MP front-facing shooter. At the back, the phone sports a quad-camera setup that includes a 64MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle unit, and dual 5MP macro and depth sensors.

The more interesting parts of the F62 spec sheet include the processor and battery capacity. The device is powered by an Exynos 9825 SoC built on the 7nm EUV technology, the firm’s late-2019 flagship chipset that debuted with the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+. The South Korean giant touts the prowess of the processor and its Mali G76 MP12 GPU as being optimal for gaming – aided by the massive 7,000mAh battery that supports USB Type-C to Type-C reverse wired charging. The SoC also brings with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU), which helps with AI-based enhancements to image processing and more.

As for other specs, the device ships with Android 11-based One UI 3.1 out of the box. Biometric authentication options include a power button-mounted fingerprint sensor. Software features include Single Take and AltZLife, a feature that switches the phone to “private mode” and hides personal information inside the Secure Folder, triggered double clicking the power key.

The F62 is from the series of F-branded devices from the company sells through Flipkart – an Indian e-commerce giant – and select offline retailers. The device shares a lot in common with the Galaxy M51 sold on Amazon.in, a similarly priced mid-range offering. However, the inclusion of the Exynos 9825 SoC greatly improves the credentials of the F62 in comparison with not just the M51, but other competing offerings from the likes of Xiaomi in the same price point.

The Galaxy F62 launches on February 22 on Flipkart.com for an asking price of ₹23,999 ($330 USD)for the 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage variant. Those wanting the 8GB RAM variant will have to shell out ₹25,999 ($358 USD). The internal storage, however, is capped to 128GB since the phone features expandable storage up to 1TB – a feature that has seemingly been removed from the company’s latest flagships. There are additional introductory offers on Flipkart such as the Flipkart Smart Upgrade Program that allow for users to pay 70% upfront, and the remaining 30% if the choose to keep the device instead of upgrading to another Galaxy phone.
