Solo mode finally coming to Apex Legends, limited time event begins next week

Respawn Entertainment has been teasing the Apex Legends community about a highly requested feature finally coming to the game, and today, that was revealed to be a solo mode. The battle royale has only featured a 3-player team mode since launch, making this the first time another format is being introduced.

This won"t be a permanent addition, however, with Respawn saying it will be a limited-time mode. Dubbed the Iron Crown Collection Event, it will kick off on August 13 and is slated to run for two weeks until August 27. No more details about the mode were revealed today, like if it will have the same 60-player rounds or will there be any gameplay/map changes to fit the more hectic experience.

Next week, only one can reign. 👑

Respawn added separately in a Reddit post that it will be pushing out the solos mode without many specifics to see how the community reacts to it, and that it will talk more about the event later.

This certainly sounds like a test phase before the studio decides to implement it in a permanent fashion, seeing if players find the solo experience an enjoyable one. We might even see other team variants like duos and quads reach the game - much like how other battle royales do it - if this event is anything to go by.
